CS2 Gambling Glossary
31 terms explained — from A to Z.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money you have set aside for gambling. Never bet more than your bankroll allows.
- Case Battle
- A PvP gambling mode where players open the same cases simultaneously. The player with the highest total skin value wins all skins.
- Case Opening
- Opening virtual cases containing CS2 skins of varying rarity. Similar to loot boxes.
- Cash Out
- Withdrawing your current winnings before the game ends (used primarily in Crash).
- Client Seed
- A random value provided by the player in provably fair systems. Combined with the server seed to determine game outcomes.
- Coinflip
- A 50/50 gambling game where two players bet equal amounts and a coin flip determines the winner.
- Crash
- A gambling game where a multiplier rises from 1x. Players must cash out before it "crashes" to zero.
- Crash Point
- The multiplier at which a Crash game ends. Determined by the provably fair algorithm before the round starts.
- Deposit Bonus
- Extra credit given on top of your deposit. E.g., a 100% deposit bonus doubles your initial deposit.
- EV (Expected Value)
- The average amount you can expect to win or lose per bet over time. Negative EV means the house has an edge.
- Float Value
- A number between 0 and 1 that determines the wear condition of a CS2 skin. Lower float = better condition.
- Free Case
- A case that can be opened without payment. Often given as a signup bonus or daily reward.
- Hash
- A cryptographic fingerprint of data. Used in provably fair systems to commit to a result without revealing it.
- House Edge
- The mathematical advantage the gambling site has over players. Usually expressed as a percentage.
- KYC
- Know Your Customer — identity verification required by some sites before processing large withdrawals.
- Martingale
- A betting strategy where you double your bet after each loss. Risky but can recover losses in the short term.
- Mines
- A grid-based game where you reveal tiles. Safe tiles increase your multiplier, but hitting a mine loses your bet.
- Multiplier
- The factor by which your bet is multiplied to determine your payout. E.g., a 3x multiplier on a $10 bet pays $30.
- Nonce
- A number used once — increments with each bet in provably fair systems to ensure unique results.
- Promo Code
- A special code that gives bonuses like free credit, deposit matches, or free cases when entered on a gambling site.
- Provably Fair
- A cryptographic system that allows players to verify that game outcomes were determined fairly and weren't manipulated.
- Rakeback
- A percentage of your total wagers returned to you regardless of wins or losses. E.g., 15% rakeback on $100 wagered = $15 back.
- RNG
- Random Number Generator — the algorithm that produces random outcomes in gambling games.
- Roulette
- A wheel-spinning game. CS2 roulette typically has three colors: Red (2x), Black (2x), and Green (14x).
- Server Seed
- A secret random value generated by the gambling site. Revealed after the game for verification.
- Skin
- A cosmetic item in CS2 that changes the appearance of a weapon. Skins have real monetary value and can be traded.
- Steam Guard
- Two-factor authentication for Steam accounts. Required for instant trading (otherwise 15-day trade hold).
- Trade URL
- A unique link that allows gambling sites to send you Steam trade offers for skin deposits and withdrawals.
- Upgrader
- A game where you wager a lower-value skin for a chance to win a higher-value one. Higher target value = lower win chance.
- VIP Program
- A loyalty program that rewards high-volume players with bonuses, cashback, personal managers, and exclusive perks.
- Wagering Requirement
- The number of times you must bet a bonus amount before you can withdraw it. E.g., 10x wagering on a $10 bonus = bet $100 total.
